World Vegetable Center
Sophia Chan is a Virologist and the Manager of Taiwan Projects at the World Vegetable Center (WVC) in Shanhua, Taiwan. Her team investigates basic and applied issues and questions about virus diseases of vegetables, including tomato, pepper, legume and cucurbits. They also support the development of disease resistant vegetable varieties by the WVC breeding programs. Sophia received her PhD from the Institute of Plant Biology at National Taiwan University. Prior to joining WVC, Sophia was a Postdoc at Academia Sinica studying the mechanism of senescence on Arabidopsis. She then served as an Associate Specialist in Virology unit at WVC.
