The Collaboration for Plant Pathogen Strain Identification (CPPSI) is a science-based, vegetable seed industry supported initiative to standardize the identification of plant pathogen strains and races based on sets of host differentials and reference plant pathogen races and strains.
Benefits of CPPSI Membership
- Priority services for members to access CPPSI plant pathogen reference isolates and differential host resources both deployed and in development. (CPPSI Services).
- Member logo displayed on CPPSI website with a link to member’s website.
- Alignment with the International Seed Federation (ISF)’s Disease Resistance Terminology (DRT) Expert Group and updates on international initiatives regarding consistent pathogen race identification and variety resistance determination.
- Collaboration with other pathologists from industry, academia, and government on reference material development through ring tests and monthly meetings. (Working Group).
- Biannual overviews of CPPSI activities, upcoming projects, and reference materials in development. (Advisory Council).
- Participation in the recommendation of relevant disease systems and future CPPSI directions. (Working Group and Advisory Council).
Available CPPSI Information
CPPSI provides access to standardized reference strains, seeds of differential hosts and informative instructional guides for the use in identification of plant pathogen strains important in vegetable production. Visit our White Papers section for more information. These materials can also be used to start up disease resistance screening programs. The CPPSI director also provides information, insights and resources for the understanding of disease resistance terminology, pathogen coding in collaborations with the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA), International Seed Federation (ISF), Asia and Pacific Seed Association (APSA), European Seed Association (ESA), GEVES-MATREF and Naktuinbouw (NAKT).
How do I become a member?
All individuals, firms or corporations engaged in the distribution, breeding, production, testing and enhancement of seeds are eligible for membership in CPPSI. Send membership inquiries to Kelley Clark at kjclark@ucdavis.edu for more information. Members commit to paying an annual membership donation.
